Guidelines for a New Application or Renewal of Private Security Service Provider Licence

INFORMATION 

Any person or representative of any company,  who wishes to apply for a new or to renew a Private Security Service Provider Licence, shall have to make an application to the Commissioner of Police in compliance with The Private Security Service Act 2004. 

Who may apply: 

l  Any company (duly registered with the Registrar of Association) whose Director or Legal Representative is 18 years and above, who           

Ø  is medically fit; 

Ø  has the appropriate training and experience in the field of security; 

Ø  has a clean criminal record.

 

How to apply: 

Applicant  should phone on 214 1387 (Police Prosecution Office – Private Security Section) for an appointment.  On receipt of an agreed appointed date, applicant should call in person at the Sterling House, 10th Floor, Lislet Geoffroy Street, Port-Louis, to submit his application. 

Required Documents pertaining to the Company and Company Director/Legal Representative 

                  (Applicable for New Application and Renewal)

Ø  Two recent passport size photographs;     

Ø  Birth Certificate; (original + a certified true copy)

Ø  Marriage Certificate; (original + a certified true copy – applicable to married woman only)

Ø  National Identity Card; (original + a certified true copy)

Ø  A copy of Certificate on incorporation (if applicable) with names and addresses of the Board of Directors (original + a certified true copy)

Ø  A copy of a recent Certificate of Morality for all members of the Board of Directors (original + a certified true copy)

Ø  Original of medical certificate as to his/her fitness to operate a private security service (name should be clearly written by Doctor as per NIC with NIC Number and for married woman, maiden name to be inserted);

Ø  Original of Security deposited (when applicable)

Ø  Certificate as to his/her experience and training in the field of security

Ø  Report that he/she has training officer/s for training of security guards and Training Centre

Ø  A written letter from training officer/s certifying that he/they will act as trainer for the company with a copy of his/their Trainer’s Licence.

Ø  Development permit of the place of business from Municipality/District Council with mention that same is to be used for private security service provider (original + a certified true copy);

Ø  Trade Fee Licence (when applicable – original + a certified true copy)

 

(Applicable for New Application)

Ø  Site Plan of the place of business (applicable for new application);

Ø  Photo – General and close view of location and building (optional)

 

                  (Applicable for Renewal)

Ø  Return of security guards employed by the company during the previous year as per format (available at Sterling House, 10th Floor)

Ø  List of sites and their exact address, where the company has provided its service for the previous year;       

 

Required Documents to collect Private Security Service Provider Licence: 

Applicant/Liaison officer who has been informed that his Private Security Service Provider Licence  has been approved, should call in person at the Police Prosecution Office (Private Security Section) situated at Sterling House, 10th Floor, Lislet Geoffroy Street, Port-Louis with his/her NIC and Rs 10 000/- for payment of his Provider Licence. Validity of Private Security Service Provider Licence 

A Private Security Service Provider Licence is valid for a period of one year as from the specific date mentioned  therein.  Renewal of Private Security Service Provider Licence should be made not later than 21 days before the expiry date.​
