Anti Piracy Unit

Anti Piracy Unit was set up on the 4th day of August 2001 after a one week course of the personnel at he Mauritius Society of Authors at Quatre Bornes.

The aim of the Unit is to combat Piracy and to promote and enforce the copyright & trademark Act throughout the island.
The personnel of this Unit is composed of one Chief Inspector, one Inspector, one Police Sergeant, Four Corporals and six constables. The Unit is based at the central CID Port Louis under the command of the DCP(c).

For the year 2001 to 2003

  • The Unit has enquired into 189 cases of Breach of Copyright.
  • The Unit has enquired into 23 cases of Breach of Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks Ac.
