Applicants should submit their application on the prescribed form, accompanied by the relevant Competency certificate, to the Commissioner of Police\u00a0and shall include such particulars as may be required in the form.<\/p><p class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\"><b>Eligibility to apply<\/b><\/p><ul class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\"><li>\u00a0\u00a0Be 18 years old or above;<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0Be physically fit and normal eyesight;<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0Have for a Competency Certificate;<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0Not involved in any domestic violence and criminal activities;<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0Have a clean record;<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0Have two safes, one for the safekeeping of Firearm and one for ammunition;<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0Have already reserved a Firearm before applying for the the Firearm Licence;<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0Be in possession of an authorized letter from the owner of a Chass\u00e9 or is the owner of a Chass\u00e9 (for hunting\u00a0 purpose)<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\"><b>How to apply<\/b><\/p><p class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\"><b><\/b>Call in person at the Central Firearms Index, Police Headquarters Line Barracks, Port-Louis on weekdays during office hours between 0830 and 1630 hrs or on Saturday between 0830 and 1230 hrs.\u00a0 For more information, call on 208 1212 (Extn 1407) or 211 0879.<\/p><p class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\"><b>Documents required<\/b><\/p><ul class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\"><li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Birth certificate (original and a copy thereof)<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0National Identity Card (original and a copy thereof)<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Certificate of Character (original and a copy thereof; a new issue within one month from the date of application)<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A competency certificate from a recognized training body showing that applicant has the appropriate training and skills for handling firearms<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Two recent passport size photographs<\/li><li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Medical Certificate<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>InformationThe\u00a0grant of a Firearm Licence is governed by the Firearms Act 2006.
