duties:<\/p><ol><li><strong>Enforcing traffic laws:<\/strong> Patrolling motorways roads, enforce traffic regulations with stress on road safety related offences.<\/li><li><strong>Managing traffic flow:<\/strong> Direct traffic, manage congestion, and optimize traffic signal timing.<\/li><li><strong>Investigating accidents:<\/strong> Respond to accidents, gather evidence, and determine cause of accident.<\/li><li><strong>Educating the public:<\/strong> Provide road safety information, conduct workshops, and promote safe driving practices.<\/li><li><strong>Collaborating with other agencies:<\/strong> Work with transportation departments, emergency services, and other stakeholders to improve road safety.<\/li><\/ol><p>The above, aim at ensuring road safety, reduce accidents, and motorcar, motorcycle or autocycle you must apply for a provisional driving license.<br \/><br \/>The Licensing Office of the Traffic Branch is responsible for the issue and control of Driving Licenses in Mauritius and Rodrigues.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2391\"><p>Application for a provisional driving license can be made either at Police stations of your locality, or on website <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>www.govmu.org<\/strong><\/span> <strong>through the Maupass application or<\/strong> at Post Offices.<\/p><p>Application for driving license shall be made in a Police Form (PF 31) and shall be accompanied by a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Non- Refundable application fee of Rs 500<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Minimum age requirement for a provisional driving licence<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><strong>Autocycle<\/strong> : 15 yrs<br \/><strong>Motorcycle<\/strong> : 17 yrs<br \/><strong>Motorcar<\/strong> : 18 yrs<br \/><strong>Application for Taxi:<\/strong> \u2013 Applicant shall be holder of a competent driving licence for Motor Cars.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><b>Application for Heavy Motor Vehicle (bus and lorry):-<\/b><\/span><br \/>Applicant shall be holder of a competent driving licence for Motor Cars for a period of at least six months.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Application for Taxi or Heavy Motor Vehicle (bus and lorry)<\/strong><\/span> will have to produce a valid Certificate of Character (not less than six months old)<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Classification of Auto\/Motorcycle<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><b>Type AM<\/b>:- Autocycle\/Electric bike &gt;250 watts&lt; 4000 watts<\/li><li><b>Type A1<\/b> :- &gt;50 &lt; 125cc\/Electric bike &gt;4 KW &lt;11KW<\/li><li><b>Type A2<\/b> :- &gt;125 &lt; 300 cc\/Electric bike &gt;11KW&lt; 35KW <strong><em>(can apply if holder of type A1)<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><b>Type A<\/b> :- &gt;300cc\/Electric bike 35 KW&gt; <strong><em>(can apply if holder of type A1 and A2)<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Online Application for Learner\u2019s Licence<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>An applicant for a provisional driving licence can simply apply online through the Government Online Centre (GOC) at www govmu.org or Post office. He or she will have to choose a convenient date and time to call at the Licensing Office, on line section to complete the processing of the application with the following documents:<\/p><ul><li>Birth Certificate<\/li><li>Two recent Passport size photo<\/li><li>Proof of address<\/li><li>National Identity Card or Student Pass as applicable<\/li><li>Marriage Certificate as applicable<\/li><li>Original work\/residence permit and passport (for non-Mauritian Citizen)<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>(Note: In cases where applicant is under 18 years, he\/she should be accompanied by responsible party- Next to kin)<\/em><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>A Non- Refundable application fee of Rs 500 shall apply.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Application made at Police Station<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>Applications for driving licence can also be made at Police stations with the following documents:-<\/p><ul><li>Birth Certificate<\/li><li>National Identity Card or Student Pass as applicable<\/li><li>Marriage Certificate as applicable<\/li><li>Original work\/residence permit and passport <em>(for non-Mauritian Citizen)<\/em><\/li><li>Provide an E-mail address with Telephone and mobile number.<\/li><\/ul><p>The application is dispatched to the Traffic Branch for processing. He\/she will be issued with a memo (PF 77) for production at the Licensing Office when applying for a duplicate licence.<\/li><li>Documents to be produced;<ol><li>2 recent passport size photographs,<\/li><li>National Identity Card<\/li><li>The damaged driving licence or a memo from Police station in case of lost driving licence,<\/li><li>Proof of address<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>A Non- Refundable prescribe fee of Rs 500 shall apply.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-2393\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2393\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2393\"><p>Payment for driving tests and scheduling of appointment can be effected on line as follows:-<\/p><ul><li>An applicant applies for an appointment on-line giving details (including email address) respecting the type of test he\/she wishes to undergo.<\/li><li>Payments for the tests are effected on line using bank card.<\/li><li>The Licensing Office receives such applications online.<\/li><\/ul><p>After verification, if an applicant is eligible, a reply is sent to him\/her on the e-mail address provided, respecting the date and time of his\/her appointment.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-2394\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"4\" (NIC).<\/li><li>Appointment Receipt<\/li><\/ul><ol><li><strong>Any person wishing to postpone his\/ her driving test should do so at least 48 hours prior to the date of
